When going through the conveyancing process, disbursements come up frequently, but what exactly are they? Disbursements are expenses that your solicitor must pay out on your behalf as part of the property transaction.
Why do I Pay Disbursements?
For some expenses in purchasing a house, a solicitor will pay them on your behalf to speed up the process. However, you will still need to pay for this yourself eventually. These expenses will be added to your final bill as a disbursement.
Examples of Disbursements
There will be a variety of expenses that will be charged to you as disbursements. Here are some examples of disbursements in the conveyancing process:
- Conveyancing searches (local, environmental, bankruptcy etc.)
- Land registration fee
- Stamp duty
